Priyanka Chopra is the most 'Kissable' hottie

Saturday, October 9, 2010

Priyanka Chopra is the most `Kissable` hottie'Desi girl' Priyanka Chopra has beaten off competition from fellow Bollywood beauties Aishwarya Rai and Kareena Kapoor to bag the title of the most kissable star.

The 28-year-old actress who became an instant pin-up with her turn in a gold bikini for Dostana topped the survey conducted by men's magazine Fantasy.

"It was a close run but Priyanka Chopra's bee-stung lips made her a perfect candidate to top this list, " said the magazine about the winning candidate. Aishwarya who is riding high with the success of Rajinikanth starrer Robot came second while Kareena Kapoor grabbed the third spot.

Bollywood's favourite Bengali beauty Bipasha Basu came fourth and Katrina Kaif rounded off the top five. 'Aisha' star Sonam Kapoor occupied the sixth spot and Mallika Hiss Sherawat was the seventh entry on the list. Deepika Padukone, Genelia D'Souza and Asin rounded off the top ten.

I'm happily single for now: Kangana Ranaut

I`m happily single for now: Kangana RanautHer unconventional looks and frizzy hair landed her atypical roles in Bollywood. Kangana Ranaut now harbours a dream of donning the director's hat and already has a script in mind.

"I'm quite happy with how my career is moving, but in terms of the future, soon, I guess I'd like to direct a movie. I have a script in mind. Let's see where it goes, " Kangana told in an interview. She revealed her plans, but refrained from divulging details.

The 23-year-old sailed into Bollywood with the crime-based romantic saga, "Gangster - A Love Story" (2006), where director Anurag Basu presented her as a gangster's girlfriend. The actress won accolades for her portrayal in the critically and commercially acclaimed film.

After that she again chose to play an unconventional role in "Woh Lamhe", which was filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt's final goodbye to former girlfriend Parveen Babi. In the film, Kangana brilliantly portrayed the late actress' madness and despair.

Again in "Life In A... Metro", a film about big city people coping with emotional and psychological trauma, Basu presented her as a call centre executive who is in a relationship with her married boss.

With Bhandarkar's "Fashion", a dark tale about the fashion industry, she hit bull's eye. Her stupendous performance where she brings forth the miseries of an ex-ramp queen won her a National Award.

Most of her films have seen her in tragic roles; as a result she is often referred to as a modern day tragedy queen, a title once given to legendary actress Meena Kumari for playing grief-stricken characters.

"It's been quite a journey...I came to the industry when I was just 17 with no real idea of what to expect. I was fortunate that 'Gangster' was a huge hit at the box office. I won a lot of awards and the industry gave me another chance.

"Otherwise, it's an industry that's very unforgiving towards outsiders. This year I'm trying a lot of new genres, different films. It's been a lot of hard work but also lots of fun, " revealed the actress, who was last seen romancing Bollywood heartthrob Hrithik Roshan in "Kites".

At the moment, Kangana's kitty is full of light-hearted films like "Double Dhamaal", "No Problem", and "Tanu Weds Manu". She is also doing "Rascals", "Game" and "Tezz".

Her next release is "Knock Out" where she will share screen space with with Sanjay Dutt and Irrfan Khan. Kangana plays a journalist in the psychological thriller, which is releasing Oct 15.

"'Knock Out' is a very different film from anything I've done before. The entire film takes place in two hours and was almost shot in one location. It's a fast paced action thriller that I think people will really enjoy, " she said.

Directed by Mani Shankar, "Knock Out" is a Bollywood adaptation of Hollywood film "Phone Booth". After playing all kinds of roles, Kangana will be seen as a scribe in the movie.

"I studied the body language of journalists reporting from crime scenes for my role, but there was this one point in the film where I actually got a chance to experience the urgency and intensity journalists experience every day.

"This was a shot where a car was supposed to fly up in the air and land on the ground. Instead of landing like it was supposed to, the car caught fire and came spinning at a very fast speed towards me. I managed to get out of its way in time, but got a real first-hand experience of the dangers journalists face on the job, " she said.

The actress has given a makeover to the image of crime journalists by sporting stilettos and off shoulder dresses in the film.

Apart from acting, she is also trying her hand at designing. She has herself created clothes for the movies "Rascals" and "Tezz". She may soon launch her clothing line.

When asked whether she was looking for love, she said: "With so much work on my plate, I'm happily single for now!"

Ashmit-Riya Sen sex MMS a hit again

Ashmit-Riya Sen sex MMS a hit againRiya Sen and Ashmit Patel sex clip grabs more eyeballs three years after it happened, after he admits that it was indeed his then girlfriend in the video

Isn't it ironic? Ashmit Patel went into the Bigg Boss house to make his 2007 MMS scandal, a thing of the past.

He wanted to clear his name, put the whole thing behind him and move on.

But all he has managed to do is bring that ugly episode back into focus, three years later.

Interest in the 1 minute 32 second-clip has been renewed and right now, it is grabbing more eyeballs than it did when it first surfaced.

Of admissions and denials

The clip is being fervently searched for on YouTube, search engines and even porn sites.

On the very first day of the show, he discussed the infamous clip with co-contestants, professed innocence and even shed tears because he was accused of leaking it, post his break-up with the actress.

Also, at the time, Sen had claimed it wasn't her in the clip. Her ex has now admitted on national television that it was indeed her, generating more excitement.

Everyone's watching

Titled 'Riya-Ashmit new MMS scandal' the clip has been re uploaded on YouTube on October 5 and has amassed a huge number of hits.

Apart from the video, two kissing scenes the pair shared in a movie are also being watched. At last count, there were 126, 641 views and rising. It's not just YouTube where Patel's past is being discussed.

The clip is being viewed and circulated through mobile phones, porn sites and personal blogs. Those who missed or didn't watch it the first time around are going to watch and download it.

The clip was the 27th most popular search on Google on Wednesday and made around 522, 542 views on another popular portal Dailymotion.com. It was also the most discussed topic on a TV forum tracking daily shows.

Sakshi Pradhan's MMS

MTV Splitsvilla Season 2 winner Sakshi Pradhan also has a new MMS scandal credited to her name. Sakshi is seen flirting and kissing a guy in the 14-second clip.

Interestingly, the clip was leaked a day after her entry in the Bigg Boss house. The MMS apparently shows Sakshi auditioning for a role and is heavily searched for on the web.

Deepika Padukone in Love

Deepika Padukone in Love Deepika is not denying love for Siddharth Mallaya. But she isn't admitting it either. Tell her about the rumours and she laughs, “We all know how true such rumours are. I'm very uncomfortable about talking it. Let the press write and say what it has to. I'm not saying anything. ”

So did Siddharth lose weight on svelte Deepika's say-so?

Speaking of Sid's size Deepika sighs, “Let me put it this way. If someone decides to lose that much weight the willpower has to come from within, and not from someone else. Beyond that I wouldn't know why he lost so much weight. I never had to lose so much weight. ”

She opens up when talking about her career. At the moment it's all very hush-hush. But here's the inside information. A very sensitive and passionate filmmaker known for his epic vision and grand spectacles is planning to remake Shakti Samanta's 1971 classic Amar Prem. The director will cast Deepika Padukone in Sharmila Tagore role.

And Deepika is all for it. “I think it's a great compliment. I'd love to do a film like Amar Prem. I want to do a classic Hindi-film heroine's part. That's my true calling. I'm really looking forward to it. ”

There is a special bonding burgeoning between Deeepika and Sharmila Tagore who plays her mother in new-director Danish Aslam's film Break Ke Baad. The screen mother-daughter spend hours together.

Deepika can't keep the admiration out of her voice while speaking of the senior actress. “We had our dimples in common, and that broke the ice. She's one of the most eleganty ladies I've come across. ”

I love Saroj Khan for her oomph and sensuality: Sandeep Soparrkar

I love Saroj Khan for her oomph and sensuality: Sandeep SoparrkarSandeep Soparrkar, a well trained choreographer from Germany had come to India on a Holiday and ended up doing choreography for a Shyam Benegal film 'Zubeida'.

More famous for his dancing style in Latin American Ballroom dancing his forte remains limited in Bollywood. Nevertheless he has indeed created a niche for himself out here.

Recently he was seen as a judge in 'Little Masters -Dance India Dance' along with Farah Khan and of course guest Mithun Chakraborty. Here in this telephonic interview he discuses about his journey in Bollywood in particular and about other aspects of choreography in general.

How did your journey as a choreographer begin in Bollywood?
You see I don't belong to any filmy family in Bollywood. In fact I am a well trained choreographer from Germany who had come to India for a Holiday.

Then it so happened that on a good friend's suggestion I started my dancing class in Latin American Ballroom dancing which is my forte.

Then by sheer luck I got a call from Shyam Benegal to choreograph for his film 'Zubeida' and I stayed on. It has now been a decade in Bollywood and now I have grown so used to it that I think I am here to stay.

So what difference do you find in choreography in Bollywood then and now?
I think I am the wrong person to answer this query. I think Saroj Khan would be the best and the right person to answer this. As it is I have hardly done 12 films in a decade that I have stayed here because Latin American Ballroom dancing is my only forte along with Salsa and Cha Cha Cha and I am not at all aware of the choreographic scenario prior to my coming to India.

But some choreographers are of the opinion that Saroj Khan maybe good at Indian dance forms but she has not moved ahead with times. What say?
Well! What can I say? She is considered a Dance Guru. In fact she is an institute in herself as far as Indian dance form is concerned for who else can give such hit and sensuous dance songs as 'Kaate Nahin Kat Te Yeh Din Yeh Raat', 'Dhak Dhak Karne Laga', 'Ek Do Teen' et al.

Do you think that any form of dance completely backs choreography?
I think it's the other way round. Most of the time a perfect choreography covers up for lack of prefect dance forms. As choreography includes a complete package of a scene, background, concept, lighting, camera angles, technique, best equipments which enhances a choreographer's visualization and of course the perfect main dancers and chorus dancers in the background or the foreground also helps a lot.

Can a choreographer unlearn his dance style, form and technique while choreographing a song?
No I don't think so. Nothing of the sort! But yes of course a choreographer can unlearn his English and learn or even polish his Hindi like me by keeping track of the nuance and meaning of every word which has to sync with every rhythm and every beat of the music in tandem with the requisite dance steps.

Which stars do you think are very good at dancing in Bollywood?
I think I can safely name the trio of Hrithik Roshan, Kajol and Priyanka Chopra. First of all Hrithik Roshan is a fabulous dancer. While Priyanka is an amazing dancer as I have noticed while working with her for Vishal Bhardwaj's 'Saat Khoon Maaf'. And of course Kajol is a brilliant dancer. In fact it is her dancing skill alone that has not been tapped perfectly till now.

So what do you do when you find an actor with two left feet on the sets?
Nothing except cheating. I think most of the choreographers take refuge in cheating. I do so with the help of my choreography like taking long, close or mid shot of the actor in question.

Yes sometimes the attitude of the actors also help but rest of the time I make do with the background or the foreground dancers, the scenes. Like I did with Manoj Bajpai in 'Zubeida', with Emraan Hashmi in one of the film whose name I don't remember off hand and with Jackie Chan in 'The Myth'.

All of whom can't dance for nuts. But things are changing now actors are now putting in more efforts in learning their dance steps and movements, giving ample time for rehearsals.

Can a choreographer become a good director and succeed and moreover do you share the same ambition?
I don't know about that but yes they can certainly try to be a good director and even succeed. Any ways what's the harm in trying and achieving then not trying at all?

As for me yes I do share the same ambition but at least not so soon or not even in the near future. Right now I am content enough with what I am doing including my dance class. Besides my hands are full now!

How was it being on the small screen by judging 'Little Masters -Dance India Dance'? Are you doing any more dance reality show on the same lines?
Oh! It was wonderful! In the beginning I was very skeptical about accepting the show by thinking what the kids will do. But I was proved wrong by their amazing talent. They literally floored me. I instantly fell in love with them.

They were brilliant, out of this world. Yes I am in talks with a channel for doing another reality show albeit not on the same lines but as they have not yet announced it I cannot give you any more details about it right now.

Did you have any clash with your director while choreographing a song?
Yes indeed only once with Pooja Bhatt while choreographing a song for her film 'Holiday'. While on the sets I insist on my director's presence as I cannot handle the shoot by way of technique and handling the camera I can only choreograph a song but she refused to come on the sets during the filming of the songs. So I was left with no alternative but to walk out of the film. I was supposed to do 4 songs but I ended up doing only 2.

Can a choreographer and an actor be good friends on and off the sets?
Yes I think they can be, just like a designer and an actor, depending upon the vibing they share on and off the sets but it is rare.

Finally tell us who is the best choreographer amongst the current lot?
I think many of them like Terence Lewis and Bosco – Ceaser they are very innovative. Farah Khan as she is very creative and always thinks out of the box! Remo D'Souza as far as Hip – Hop is concerned. While Saroj Khan is the best for her grandness, oomph and extreme sensuality!

Please don't call me Ash: Aishwarya Rai

Please don`t call me Ash: Aishwarya RaiIt seems that Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai is tired of people addressing her by her nickname "Ash" and has requested them to call her by her full name.

"When I joined the industry, people initially used to say they have difficulty in pronouncing my name, so they started calling me 'Ash'. But now, it has been years and I guess, everyone can pronounce it properly," Aishwarya told reporters.

"So I would appreciate, if you people address me by my name - Aishwarya," she added.

The model-turned-actress walked the ramp for designer Manish Malhotra at the ongoing HDIL-India Couture Week and thanked her husband Abhishek for bringing the name issue in the forefront.

It is believed that Abhishek had recently requested some journalists to refer to her by her full name.

I don't know why all Bollywood stars act as salesmen

I don`t know why all Bollywood stars act as salesmenB-Town biggies pull out all stops when promoting their films. Here's a list of the capers...

During his recent visit to Mumbai for a special screening of Robot, Rajnikant quipped, "I don't know why all Bollywood stars act as salesmen when their film is getting released."

The South sensation obviously does not subscribe to actors going on an overdrive and being in the media glare on the eve of the release of their movies.

For all B-Town folks, it begins with the music launch of the movie in a five-star hotel or on a music-based reality show on television.

Rajni himself had made an exception by being present for Robot's music launch in Mumbai at a Juhu five-star.

He had stated at the event that he never attends any filmi dos and was breaking the rule only once for director Shankar.

For most Bollywood stars, promoting their project means interviews with TV channels, appearing as a judge on reality TV shows to talk about the upcoming flicks, public appearances at malls and events, blogging or even joining Twitter, like Shah Rukh Khan (MNIK) and Aamir Khan (3 Idiots) did.

More recently, technologically-challenged director Farah Khan did it for her upcoming film Tees Maar Khan.

Here are examples to the extent stars go to, to promote their film's release...

Ranbir Kapoor had a mock marriage with one of the contestants of a reality show during the Anjaana Anjaani promotions. Salman Khan appeared on Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega as part of Dabangg's promotions with his pet dogs. He is very possessive about them.

Abhishek Bachchan wore the reading glasses from Paa to every event for weeks before and after the film. Now John Abraham is doing the same for Jhootha Hi Sahi.

Shahid Kapoor and Genelia D'Souza spent a night together in a car parked at Kamalistan Studios for Chance Pe Dance as the movie was about strugglers.

Aamir Khan travelled incognito throughout the country during the promotions of 3 Idiots and people had to find him, keeping the story in mind (he goes missing in the film, while the other two 'idiots' look for him).

Raat Gayi Baat Gayi had condoms, aspirins, toothbrushes, toothpaste as part of the media kit! Shah Rukh Khan took to Twitter during My Name Is Khan after buddy Karan Johar told him to. He wanted SRK to communicate with his fans and keep them updated about his daily routine.

Dulha Mil Gaya actor Fardeen Khan became a groom again and led a marriage procession starting from Lokhandwala to an Oshiwara mall.

Kareena to get her curves back for sexiness

Kareena to get her curves back for sexinessIt is not without reason that she is often referred to as the 'female SRK of Bollywood'. Like her male counterpart, Kareena Kapoor, too, has a penchant to grab the spotlight, for all the things the actress does (and sometimes doesn't)!

While the nation has not yet forgotten the size-zero figure made popular by our very own Bebo, the news is that Kareena is trying to put on weight for the last couple of months.

While this may come across as a bad news for all, who tried their best to get rid of the extra kilos in an attempt to emulate Kareena Kapoor, the sexy Bollywood lass has decided that it is time to bring back her own plumper self again.

When questioned by the media on the sudden change in her statistics, Kareena Kapoor laughed away saying that little did she expect that her weight would one day become a national issue, adding at the end that, it is her way of pleasing her fans, who prefer the slightly fatter Kareena!

Bebo has just stepped on 30 and with it has also completed a decade in the industry. A combination of hits and misses, Kareena Kapoor's career graph has surely been an eyesore for many of her peers.

Currently shooting for partner Saif Ali Khan's venture “Agent Vinod”, Kareena rules out getting back to her size-zero status even for Karan Johar's “Short Term Shaadi”.

Priyanka wants family time

Priyanka wants family timeWill take her parents along to Berlin for Don 2 shoot Priyanka Chopra who barely spends any time with her parents in Mumbai, thanks to her busy schedule, will now take them along to Berlin for the shooting of Don 2.

The problem is they might freak out on seeing their laadli beti perform dangerous stunts with Shah Rukh Khan. "Yeah, but I'd rather risk their concern than lose the opportunity to have them around," says PC.

Happy I'm busy

The actress was meant to spend time with her parents and also practise her stunts for Don 2 before leaving for Berlin. Now, those two things will happen on location.

The extra week of promotion required for her new film Anjaana Anjaani (as the film was pushed) has taken its toll on her plans.

But she isn't complaining. "No-one can foresee these things. Ranbir and I had to give up the time we had set aside for our families for added promotion.

It's all part of the game. But yes, I do regret that lost that precious time with my parents that I had planned well in advance. But I don't think I'd want it any other way. My folks are happy to see me busy."

On the run

She jokes about a similarity she sees between Anjaana Anjaani and Don 2, "One required me to be on the run. The other requires me to run as fast as SRK."

After her physically exhausting schedules last year (she was even in hospital) PC's parents are naturally worried about the amount of time she spends working, "But what to do? I can't act like this chui-mui (fragile person) who cracks under pressure.

Nobody forces me to do any of these physically and emotionally exhausting jobs. I enjoy them. I need to keep pushing myself further with every role. And my parents would just have to understand."

Shilpa honeys up!

Shilpa honeys up!Teams up with Dostana director Tarun Mansukhani for an ad

Shilpa Shetty has teamed up with Dostana director Tarun Mansukhani yet again this time for an ad. The actress who did a Shut Up And Bounce act in his movie has now shot for a honey brand with him.

The commercial was filmed on Wednesday night at a shopping-cum-multiplex in Bandra. The shoot began at midnight and wound up at 7 am.

Lookin' fantastic

Says Mansukhani, "I can't reveal the details of the ad at this stage as the makers want to launch it in a big way. Shilpa is the brand ambassador of the product.

But what I can say is that she is looking fantastic."

This is the third time that the writer-director is making a commercial. He has worked with Abhishek Bachchan-Aishwarya Rai and Karan Johar-Kareena Kapoor in earlier ads.

Adds Shetty, "It was great working with Tarun after Dostana. I had a long but interesting shoot with the team and him. I enjoyed it."

The actress, known for her svelte figure and for being extremely health-conscious, is now spreading the virtues of honey in one's daily diet. She is also currently seen in a shampoo ad.

Kareena denies taking Rs 5 crore for Short Time Shaadi

Kareena denies taking Rs 5 crore for Short Time ShaadiIs Kareena Kapoor asking for Rs 5 crore for a ‘Short Term Shaadi’? Well, it is not about a marriage but her upcoming film with Imran Khan. A report said that Kareena had charged a huge amount of Rs 5 crore for acting in Karan Johar’s next flick 'Short Term Shaadi'. However, the actress has rubbished such reports.

The ‘once size-zero’ actress was quoted saying that Karan is like a family to her and so they don’t discuss money or even scripts. She added that Karan just informs her when to start for shooting and then pays the amount she deserves.

Speaking about her outfits in the movie, Kareena said that she won’t compromise on her glam quotient. The 30- year-old actress said that her ‘size zero’ look was not liked by her fans so she would better wear lot of clothes like she wore in Jab We Met.

The actress says jokingly that she is thankful to Shah Rukh Khan for taking away the weight loss issue from her. Recently, when SRK was shooting for Ra.One, he lost a lot of weight and people started discussing about this. So Kareena thinks that the attention has now shifted from her to SRK.

Speaking about her 'Short Term Shaadi', Bebo said that both Imran and she will have performance driven roles and people will enjoy a lot.

Rani Mukerji in Africa?

Rani Mukerji in Africa? If she says yes, Africa will be Rani Mukerji's first full-fledged Bengali role

Two-time National Award winning director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury is all set to sign Rani Mukerji for his next Bengali film, Africa.

Her only appearance, in father Ram Mukerji's Bong film Biyer Phool (1992) doesn't count, as it was a cameo. The actress has only acted in Hindi films since.

Says a source, "The director met the actress in Mumbai and gave her a story narration.

An excited Rani asked him to come to her with the completed script. Interestingly, while he is keen on Mukerji, he had also met Rituparna Sengupta, who is under the impression that she's in the film."

The source adds, "If the Hadippa actress signs on, it will be her first full-fledged role in a Bengali film.

He is visiting Mumbai again in the next couple of days for his next meeting with the actress. Africa is a female-centric film and if she signs on, she will play the lead role."

Says Chowdhury, "Yes, I did meet Rani. We've had discussions but nothing has been finalised.

I am still working on the script. It's too premature to talk about it. She is one of my favourite actresses! I would like to work with her."

Aniruddha says, "I plan on starting my Bengali film first and then the Hindi one next year.

I am working on three scripts, two by noted Bengali novelist Sunil Gangopadhyaya. Sunil's works include Dui Nari Haate Torowari and Ajaana Desh while Africa is my story.

I will be visiting Mumbai in the next few days to finalise preparations for my Hindi film."

Awarding Ways...

Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury's Anuranan won a National Award for Best Bengali Film while his Antaheen bagged four awards for Best Film, Best Lyrics, Best Cinematographer and Best Singer.

If I would have handled the Ayodhya case, 18 saal nehi lagte, Boss! (It won't have took 18 long years).

So, what would have been your verdict?

I'm not dieting: Katrina Kaif

I`m not dieting: Katrina KaifBinges on Punjabi dhaba food en route to Chandigarh

Katrina Kaif, who has been religiously dieting and working out (the cinnabons she ate on Farah Khan's sets being the sole exception) to maintain her slim and svelte look, gave in to temptation yesterday when she and her co-stars stopped at a roadside dhaba to feast on Punjabi khaana.

Deserted dhaba

Says a source close to the actress, "Imran and Kat suddenly decided to stop at a roadside dhaba to sample the food there. Ali and the crew of Mere Brother Ki Dulhan were also with them. The unit had wound up the shoot at Mussourie and were on their way to Chandigarh.

The dhaba was one of those quaint, rustic ones you see on highways. It was completely deserted. Katrina, Imran and Ali thoroughly enjoyed eating there without the restriction of people staring at them."

Guilty pleasure

The actors decided to take a break after a six-hour long drive. "Kat took one look at the rich, spicy Punjabi food and decided break her diet and have some too.

She enjoyed herself thoroughly, ordering daal, rotis, chicken and mutton. She normally avoids too much oily and spicy food but just couldn't resist the food when she saw it.

Now, she will have some rigorous dieting and workouts to do when she reaches Chandigarh." Says Katrina, "I am not dieting. I am feasting on some delicious tadka daal and mutton."
