SRK gets muscled

Shah Rukh Khan to get athletic for his role in Don 2 After losing weight for his home production, RA. One, Shah Rukh Khan will pile it on for Farhan Akhtar's Don 2. The man aiding SRK to gain muscle is fitness trainer Prashant Sawant, who had helped him build his six -pack abs for Om Shanti Om. Incidentally, Prashant is also training SRK's co-star in Don 2 Boman Irani. Says a source, "SRK's role in Don 2 requires him to not just be fit but to have a tough, athletic and lean body -- something that can help him do high-intensity stunt sequences effortlessly. Prashant Sawant, his trainer of 10 years, is helping him achieve that. For over a month now, the actor has been undergoing extensive weight training along with a high-protein diet that helps build muscle mass. " Khan's exercise routine includes working out rigorously at his gym at home for an hour. "He is concentrating only on weight training with no cardio. But all the exercises are done keeping his shoulder injury in mind. His diet includes eggs and steamed or grilled chicken. " Don 2 producer Ritesh Sidhwani says, "Shah Rukh is not beefing it up for Don 2. He's just building on some muscle for his different image in the film. He lost a lot of weight for RA. One and will be putting on some for Don 2. " Currently, Ritesh and Farhan are in Berlin scouting for locales and beginning pre-production work. Riteish says, "A major part of Don 2 will be shot in Berlin. No Hindi film has ever been shot here before. We start shooting in 10 days. " DCP D'Silva/Vardhaan ko kya hua? Boman Irani (DCP D'Silva/Vardhaan in Don) has been training under Prashant Sawant for two-months now. He has lost quite a bit of weight. "Boman will look completely transformed in Don 2. He's building his muscles too as he has to look tough. He's doing almost two hours of cardio, weights and circuit training with a diet designed by Prashant's wife Maya (also a fitness instructor). Boman's diet is a high- protein one with little carbohydrates and absolutely none after evening with lots of protein shakes, " reveals our source.

Robot on par with Hollywood sci-fi films: Shankar

Shankar the director of such Tamil mega-hits as Kadhalan, Indian, Jeans and Boys is rightfully considered one of the hottest filmmakers in Tamil cinema. He has seldom ventured into Hindi cinema. His first Hindi film Nayak was also his last in Hindi.

Now the sci-fi flick Endhiran, said to be the costliest film ever, is being released n Hindi as Robot. Said to be the most expensive Indian dilm ever, Robot naturally has Shankar looking forward to another foray into Hindi cinema, albeit in a dubbed avatar.

Says the softspoken director, “All my earlier Tamil films were dubbed into Hindi without my consent let alone supervision. Some of them were very badly dubbed. I used to get to know about the release of my dubbed films from other people. In Robot I've sat on the details of the Hindi dubbing myself. ”

Shankar got writer-lyricist Swanand Kirkire to do the Hindi dialogues.

Says the director, “He selected the voices in Hindi for every character. They were sent to me for approval, only then were they used. I made sure that the nuances from the Tamil were not lost in the Hindi version. I feel the Hindi version of Endhiran is closer in flavor and spirit to the Tamil version than all my Tamil films in Hindi. ”

Robot was supposed to be made in the year 2000 with Kamal Haasan in the lead.

Says Shankar, “I was going to make it in 2000 with Kamal Haasan and Preity Zinta in the lead. But I got busy with the Hindi film Nayak. I was supposed to get back to Robot with Kamalji. Now it's finally been done with Ranjikanth. ”

Robot has an unprecedented advance booking at the South Indian boxoffice.

Explains Shankar, “It's the first full-fledged science-fiction film in India. We've tried to make it on a par with science-fiction films from Hollywood because audience here are now familiar with the visual effects in the biggest Hollywood films. Our budget is more than 100 crore rupees. Just the talent involved in Robot makes it an awesome project.

We got technicians from Hollywood and China involved. We made sure whatever resources was not available here was made available to us from the outside. We couldn't afford the 1000-crore rupee budget of Hollywood sci-fi films.

But we've done our best. But we haven't gone overboard. The visual effects are the USP of Robot. ”

Rajnikanth is of course the super-USP of Robot.

Says the director director, “I don't know if I can be in Mumbai for the release of the Hindi version. I've to be in Chennai for the Tamil premiere. I'm at the moment still in the lab. ”

Akshay's Dj night spoiled by Ayodhya Verdict

The long awaited Ayodhya verdict is out this afternoon and it has received mixed reactions. Much is being said about the judgment and some of them are happy with it then some have expressed little disappointment. One Bollywood actor, who has a reason to get disappointed after the verdict, is Akshay Kumar.

Well, Akshay is in no way linked with the judgment and he has not given any reaction on this. The fact is that Akki was preparing hard for the DJ night to take place this evening at a nightclub in Colaba. It was aimed at promoting his upcoming movie Action Replayy. But, the event has been cancelled due the Ayodhya-Babri Masjid verdict.

The actor had done a thorough and serious research on this along with his wife Twinkle, director Vipul Shah and mother in law Dimple Kapadia. He got a collection of several popular retro numbers from the 1970's because their movie is based in that era.

Now, all these musical plans of the star have turned futile, at least for today. However, the DJ night will surely happen sometime soon.

Director Vipul Shah was quoted saying that Babri Masjid is a very important issue for India and everyone should pay respect to it. He added that the film is yet 35 days away from the release date so the event can be organized later on some other day.

Well, everyone will agree with Shah as this is really a serious issue of the nation and priority should be given to it.

'Hisss' gets the Princess of Travancore

Actress Mallika Sherawat's forthcoming film "Hisss" has been making quite a buzz and the latest is that Lakshmi Bai, the erstwhile princess of Travancore, will make an appearance in the movie.

"Akka" as she is affectionately called by close friends and family, met "Hisss" diector Jennifer Lynch through family friend Govind Menon, who is producing the film.

When Lynch was casting for the role of Divya Dutta's mother, she offered the role to Lakshmi Bai who initially refused. But after much convincing and cajoling, she finally agreed to be part of the film.

"Akka is a natural storyteller. Her intelligence and grace are matched only by her incredible instinct about people and their character. It was an honour to be her director, " Lynch said in a statement.

"Akka will provide a healthy amount of comic relief in the film, and her character's storyline is crucial to the plot. "

According to sources the princess might be accompanying Mallika during her trips to some cities down South. "Hisss" is slated for an Oct 22 release.

It's Katrina v/s Deepika once again

Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone slug it out to be in Akshay Kumar's next Joker. He's spoilt for choice

Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone have been at loggerheads ever since Ranbir Kapoor and it's been one big game of oneupmanship between them since then.

The latest bone of contention is Shirish Kunder's Joker, a co-production between Akshay's Hari Om Productions and Farah Khan and Shirish's Three's Company.

One has to go!

Says a source, "Deepika and Katrina both think that they are doing the film without the other knowing about it. Katrina had spoken to Akshay during the shooting of Farah's Tees Maar Khan and has taken it for granted that she is doing Joker.

Deepika's inclusion in the casting is a recent development and she suits the script better. Akki is in a dilemma and is tearing his hair out figuring out the best way to tell one of the girls to take a walk."

Making it happen

Akshay's dilemma stems from the fact that while he's close to Katrina (they're a popular pair and have delivered several hits), Deepika is going out of her way to be accommodating in giving her dates.

The source adds, "Akshay has given his dates for January and Deepika can offer her dates for the month as well."

What's at stake

While Deepika is ready to negotiate her price as well, things have worked out for Katrina as well with the Dostana schedule being postponed to March. She too will be available in January. The trouble is Akki doesn't want to hurt either girl's feelings. The role is a very glamorous one and not being chosen would hurt either's prospects."

And that's why...

The source adds that, "That's why Katrina was upset about reports of Akki and her having a fallout. Kat wants the world to know that she's still very close to him."

Says Shirish, "We are in the process of casting the female lead opposite Akshay for Joker. Top names are being considered. It is a performance- oriented role. Akshay and I will take the final call in a week." Akshay remained unavailable for comment.

It's steamy! Hrithik-Katrina lock lips!

Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif rehearse their kissing scene for Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara. Getting it right is important, after all! Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif will share a steamy liplock in Zoya Akhtar's Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara. The kiss was shot in the Spain during the first schedule of the film, last month. Although Hrithik has played tonsil tennis with other heroines in the past, this was his first time with Katrina Kaif, so there was a level of discomfort from her side. Also, this is the first time they are working together, so she didn't have the easy on-screen chemistry she does with an Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan or even Ranbir Kapoor. The duo had to work to get into the comfy zone. They spent a time of time together on the set before the intimate scene was shot. Perfectionist Hrithik wanted to get it right and was suggested rehearsing the smooch before the shoot. A source spills the details on the kiss. "The scene happens when Hrithik is bidding her goodbye. As soon as he starts walking away, Kat realises she misses him already and rides her dirt bike towards him. She then gets off the bike and plants a wet one on his lips. The scene establishes that she realizes she has strong feelings for him and can't ignore her feelings anymore. " It's relevant Before shooting the scene, Zoya sat with the actors and stressed on the relevance of the liplock in the scene. She made no bones about the fact that that they look great together, and she wanted to milk their chemistry on 36mm. The source adds, "Hrithik and Kat have done a photo shoot in the past. Apart from that, they haven't interacted a lot socially either, so breaking the ice wasn't easy, but you wouldn't believe that if you see the kissing scene. " On the day of the shoot the actors were heard agonising over how they have to get the scene right. In fact, they shot it several times before Zoya okayed it. "Both actors were professional and completely committed to getting it right, and they did, " concludes the insider.

Imran smashed Katrina with a gun

Imran's gun injures Katrina's nose while shooting a scene for YRF's next

On Tuesday night, Katrina Kaif suffered an injury on the sets of Yash Raj Film's untitled project with Imran Khan. The film is being shot at Pataudi Palace in Haryana.

The actress was hurt during filming and ended up with a bloody nose, courtesy an error of judgment on her co-star's part. Strangely, she was hurt in the same spot where she'd been previously injured during the shoot of Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani when Ranbir accidentally landed a blow on her face.

A source from the sets reveals what happened. "They were shooting a funny scene in which Imran is holding a gun in his hand and Katrina is by his side.

He had to move around and pull Kat toward him with the other hand. But while shooting, he accidentally smashed the barrel of his gun on Katrina's nose. It happened in a split second and her nose started bleeding. "

Call the doc
The source adds, "Everyone panicked because there was blood oozing from her nose. The shooting stopped and she was escorted to the vanity van. A doctor was called on the set and she was administered first aid. After a while the bleeding stopped, but she was still in pain. "

Kat confirms, "Yes, I got hit in the same place as I did during Ajab. I am pretty bruised but the staff feels it's good luck for the film. But it was a funny scene so I think it was worth it. "

I am too scared to watch KBC with family: Amitabh Bachchan

Amitabh Bachchan, the actor of the masses, wants to reach out to people in the interiors as the host of "Kaun Banega Crorepati" (KBC). He says this time viewers will get to see some of the best brains from small towns.

"For some peculiar reason, a certain section of our country was alienated whenever 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' was held, " Amitabh told in an interview.

"Now because of rapid growth in mobile and internet, a large section of people that is not necessarily from urban areas but from midtowns, smaller cities and even rural areas, is conversant about what's going on in the rest of the world. Not only are they conversant, they have every knowledge about it.

"There is a great effort on their part to improve their conditions and some of the contestants, from several recordings that I have already done, are from either very small villages or small towns but they are very enthusiastic and very knowledgeable and have gone on to win Rs. 300, 000 and Rs. 700, 000. One of them even won Rs. 25 lakh.

"But sadly what's happening is that even though they are educated, they can't go beyond a certain level because they don't have the finance, " he said.

KBC 4 will go on air on Amitabh's 68th birthday, Oct 11, on Sony and the Bollywood megastar says returning to the hot seat felt like dejà-vu. He was the original show host, while Shah Rukh Khan took over for the third season.

"Yes, of course, there is a feeling of having been there before. But every day is so new in KBC, the type of contestants, what he is going to say, how far he is going to go -- makes it more interesting. It's the contestant that makes the show, not me.

"There are many things that I don't know. Almost 90 percent I don't know but, yes, it's always very educative, " he said.

Having done it before, Amitabh still goes for rehearsals.

"Nobody is ever going to be perfect, least of all me. And I think it's a fallacy to think that we know everything and therefore we don't need any rehearsal.

For anything that's going to be public, I want to be absolutely sure what I am going to do and what the mechanics of the show are. No amount of preparation is going to be enough for something like this.

"You may think I have worked in about 200 films and have been working for 41 years, so going in front of the camera is a cakewalk for me; no it isn't so. I still have butterflies in my stomach every night when I have to go for shoot next morning.

" (I think about) what are my lines, whether I will be able to say my lines correctly, whether I would be able to give the correct performance, whether the public will be able to appreciate that. . . , " he said.

This time too Amitabh would avoid watching the show with his family.

"I have actually kept away from watching KBC with the family because I am too scared to sit with someone to watch it. I would retire to some corner of the house where I can't hear or see anything and wait for the report to come from the rest of the family.

"I think I would be doing something similar this time also, " said Bachchan.

This is the most talked about movie in recent times. Huge technical values, whopping budget, star casting in high élan and a gen-next concept…all conglomerated to spell out ‘Robo’.

Story:
Dr Vaseekaran (Rajni Kanth) makes a Robot and gives him his own shape. The Robot is omniscient and omnipotent. His motive is to prepare his Robot to join Indian Army. He wishes to make many more such Robots to help Army and reduce loss of lives during wars. But Dr Vaseekaran’s enemy, another scientist (Danny) disproves that his Robot cannot fit to be used for military purposes as it cannot think like a human. He states that it has no emotions and reasoning capacity.

Dr Vaseekaran pumps in human feelings and reasoning capabilities and makes him almost a human. But things turn upside down. Robot starts loving Sana (Aishwarya Rai), the fiancée of Dr Vaseekaran. Robot gets attracted to Sana and that makes Vaseekaran angry. He destroys it.

But the enemy scientist takes the destroyed Robot, repairs it and infuses destructive mechanism in it. He wants it to sell to some international gangsters. But the love for Sana in Robot aggravates as wild possessiveness and that pesters Sana.

Robot becomes very strong physically and becomes like a cruel demon. It even kills the scientist who gives him second birth. It creates massive destruction to society by creating many Robots like itself.

How Dr Vaseekaran deactivates the Robot and brings things to peace is the end of the film.

Performances:
Rajni Kanth is tremendously good at age 60. His moves, his gait and expressions didn’t wane even a bit. He got connected to new age kids and they cannot forget him for rest of their lives. That way Rajni Kanth added another 60 years to his image.

Aishwarya Rai is the true asset for the movie. Her glamour made a lot of difference. As a true goddess of beauty she enchanted everyone.

Danny is apt in serious role. His performance is in contemporary international standards.

If there is anything to speak about the film, that’s technical brilliance.

Music is in gen-next style. Sound is marvelous. Canning of songs is opulent. But the lyrics in Kilimanjaro are lewd and weak. Rest of the songs are fine.

Director Shankar deserves great mention for making this biggest feat possible on Indian screen with a message.

Analysis:

This saying of great soul of Indian soil lingers in the mind while watching this film. Knowingly or unknowingly Shankar made a movie basing on this saying.

It’s a movie for world children.

Yes, it truly influences the senses of new generation kids those developed relation only with video games but not human beings. Hardly there are joint families now where grand parents teach morals to kids. And the kids tend to listen only to machine. They tend to follow what machine says. And director Shankar aptly takes the way through machine, the Robot, to teach values.

Kids run away listening to words kama, krotha, lobha, moha, mada, matsarya…but they assimilate that when shown in a dramatic way. That too, not in the style of Chandamama stories. They want something with scientific reasoning. Hence the path is chosen through ‘Robot’.

How peaceful the Robo was and how useful that was to society when it’s free from those 6 evils. And how it becomes detrimental to itself and society when injects them into it. That’s aptly narrated.

The true essence of the movie is narrated in the end. The dialogues delivered by Robot while dismantling himself are hitting the hearts. The dialogues touch every human being with introspection.  And at last, a girl looks back and goes with a thoughtful grimace. That is a symbolism for entire world kids those will be in thought process from now.

First half is entertaining. The first 30 minutes of second half are not gripping in right standards. That part is boring. But the climax action episode is marvelous to be on Indian screen. The last few closing dialogues are impressive and with true essence.

Hinduism or Islam or Christianity or Shintiosm or Taosim…every religion says one who is free from anger is the true strong man and one who shuns self is the true atman!!! ‘Anger’, as Sukhabodhananda says, is one letter less to danger. That is the true cause for destruction. Let us wish that this movie sows a seed at least in a few minds of children to prevent self entering into calculation while taking decisions….like a school girl that turns back and goes at the end on the screen..!!!!

 

Bottom-line: Watch it...
