Salman Khan is like a wild stallion, when let loose he’ll run over the entire film making a mess of it but when reined in he’ll take you on a ride of a life time.

Many of his famous ‘wanted’ or rather unwanted antics often leave the multiplex audience cold. So, as you walk into Dabnagg, you tend to be little circumspective of his Chulbul act doing rounds on TV, but barely a reel into the film and this philistine rascal charms the pants off you.

Here, I said it. I loved Chulbul Pandey. No matter how hard I resisted, he just made me submit to his impish streak. But I bet you won’t be able to help as well when you’ll see his ‘emosional’ story.

With his daddy gone, little Chulbul had to put up with Prajapati Pandey (Vinod Khanna) whom his mother Naini (Dimple Kapadia) married. Prajapati always loved Makhi or Makhanchan (Arbaaz Khan) more than his stepson. So bitter Chulbul one day shreds his horoscope, filial ties along with all the multiplex sensibilities we are so accustomed to now a days.

Enter the inspector Chulbul aka Robin hood Pandey, who finds refuge in beating up the bad eggs and sharing the booty with his mates and other needy folks. His coffers are full; he virtually rules Lalganj but a village belle Rajjo (Sonakshi Sinha) turns our man of steel into a love sick puppy, ergo you see him wooing his lady love incessantly in the first half.

Then there is a local youth leader Cheddi Singh (Sonu Sood) whom Chulbul has rubbed the wrong way.

Singh finds a way to get back at him through estranged Makhi and the latter ends up being a pawn in his hands. Just in time, Makhi finds the truth but till then enough goons get razed to death, stunt director S. Vijayan style and Pandey has had his revenge, Salman style.

I know there are going to be detractors for Dabangg‘s script and its hackneyed plot but you’ll have to see the film in its context.

Dabangg is easy-on-grey-cells sort of film but it works better than Akki’s latest outings or for that matter even Salman’s previous films. And the men responsible for it are director Abhinav Kashyap and the writer Dileep Shukla. They make Salman mouth the mealiest one-liners and to his credit the superstar carries them off pretty well.

Sonakshi Sinha has a classic old-time charm to her which makes her stand out among the plastic-silicon-size zero brigade of the tinsletown. She holds her own against Salman Khan in a Salman Khan film and that is suffice for this newbie to feel like a comer.

Abrbaaz, Dimple and Vinod Khanna are good in their roles. Mahi Gill’s cameo is pleasant but the real credit goes to Chulbul Pnadey’s spares, who assist this loud and kitschy character with their colloquial wit.

Sonu Sood shows a lot of promise. Mahesh Manjrekar still sounds like an inebriated Marathi Manoos in a UP village. But what the hey, you forget the minor glitches when you see Malaika, all in her elements, gyrating on an item number.

Dabangg is an out and out entertainer, a great watch for Salman fans but a must watch for those who are not his admirers. After all, how many times you get to see him not playing oh-so-Salman-Khan.

Go for it.

We never approached Ash, how can she reject us

We never approached Ash, how can she reject us

We never approached Ash, how can she reject usThere was report recently that beauty queen turned Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has denied to endorse the products of French Dairy Company Danone. However, the company has now released an official statement saying that they had never approached her to endorse their products in India.

Danone rubbished this incorrect claim by the Aishwarya's publicist that obviously rebukes the brand Danone. The official statement of the company read that the brand was never approached by the publicist and such a false statement has caused irreparable damage and reputational harm to Danone's business goodwill.

The publicist of the actress made an announcement recently that she is not endorsing the brand after many tabloids reported that Danone has approached Ash.

The world's no. 1 dairy company has also made it clear that they do not have any future plan to approach the actress for endorsing any of their products.

The statement read that Danone would like to inform all its consumers, patrons and shareholders that it never approached Mrs. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for endorsing any of their products. The company's stand reflects that it has been offended by the harsh remarks by the actress' publicist in media regarding the endorsement deal.

Whatever be the actual deal, now it is cleared by both the parties in media so there will be no much confusion about it!

Hot Munni has a new loverThe item number 'Munni Badnam' in 'Dabangg' has come under scrutiny many times for its lyrics and even for the dancing style of Malaika Arora Khan with her brother-in-law Salman Khan. However, the song has received well appreciation too and this time it has caught megastar Amitabh Bachchan's fancy as well.

Big B has wished Salman Khan 'good luck' for the release of the film today. Mr. Bachchan also termed the songs to be very 'fantastic'.

On his Twitter page, Amitabh wrote that he wishes him all the best and he found the 'Munni Badnaam' song a fantastic number.

On the other hand, Salman is not following anybody on Twitter except his sister Arpita, brother Arbaaz Khan and his 'Dabangg' co-star Sonakshi Sinha. But, Big B is following Salman Khan as both of them have worked together in the films like 'Babul', 'God Tussi Great Ho' and 'Baghban'.

'Dabangg' is releasing today in more than 300 screens in non-traditional markets like Holland, Germany, Norway, Malaysia, Tanzania, Uganda, Germany, Belgium, Kenya, Nigeria, Denmark, Egypt, Ghana, Malawi, Zambia, Australia, Thailand, USA, UK and Fiji Islands.

Hoping Big B's wishes turns true and 'Dabangg' rocks box office.

Akshay, Katrina and Salman to perform Qawali

Akshay, Katrina and Salman to perform Qawali

Akshay, Katrina and Salman to perform QawaliDirector Farah Khan is trying to make her latest movie 'Tees Maar Khan' full of music masala. Recently, she shot an item number 'Sheela Ki Jawani' with Katrina Kaif, which also had Salman Khan in a special appearance. Farah even created suspense among viewers when she gave six different looks to her heroine Katrina in this song.

Now, there is a buzz that the choreographer turned director is planning to shoot a 'Qawali' for the film, which will be picturized on the lead stars Katrina, Akshay Kumar and again Salman Khan. She is trying all her bits to make the film as entertaining as possible.

The new 'Qawali' is supposed to be similar like the Qawali 'Tujh Se Mil Ke Dil Ka Hai Jo Haal Kya Kare' in Farah's 'Main Hoon Na'.

The industry insiders have been quoted saying that the song will be shot by this month end after the entire shooting of the film ends. A buzz is doing the rounds that the crew of the movie is looking forward to shoot this interesting song as it will unite Salman and Katrina again.

Salman and Katrina have reportedly united again at personal level as Salman was seen visiting Katrina's set and both were spotted having late dinner together.

Pakistan Bans Dabangg

Pakistan Bans Dabangg

Pakistan Bans Dabangg Bollywood has a huge market in the neighboring country Pakistan and the Bollywood stars have millions of fans there. The Pakistan Government is well aware of the fact and taking this opportunity, it has decided to increase the entertainment tax on Indian films from 30% to a huge 65%.

Moreover, the Government of Pakistan has banned the release of any Indian films during the festival season of Eid. Today, Indian movie 'Dabangg' starring Salman Khan is releasing across the world but it could not be released in Pakistan due to this ban. Salman Khan has a huge fan following in that country and the movie could have done a huge business at this time.

In fact, Pakistan has banned to air all Indian shows on their channels. This news is a bit surprising because the Prime Minister of Pakistan claims to be a huge fan of Indian movies and he expressed his wish to improve relations between the two neighboring countries through cinema.

This double standard of the government towards Indian films and peace process not only affects India's film business but it also keeps their own people away from their favorite movies and stars.

This ban will only increase the illegal ways of watching the movies and it will motivate pirated movie business in both countries!

Akki gets Rs 18 lakh vintage watch as birthday gift

Akki gets Rs 18 lakh vintage watch as birthday gift

Akki gets Rs 18 lakh vintage watch as birthday giftBollywood's 'khiladi' star Akshay Kumar turned 43 years yesterday and on this occasion his wife Twinkle Khanna organized a surprise party for her hubby. Some of his closest friends were invited in this party on Wednesday night.

Filmmaker Vipul Shah, who is also a close friend of Akshay, was also invited. The producer of his upcoming movie 'Action Replayy' presented him a vintage classic watch of 1975, which apparently costs Rs 18 lakh.

A source was quoted saying that Akshay attended an event yesterday to unveil the first look of his next movie 'Action Replayy'. On this occasion, someone asked him about the new watch he was flashing. While answering the question, Akshay informed that it was a gift from his director friend Vipul Shah on his birthday. Adding to this, the actor jokingly said that since the watch costs a huge amount he hopes that the director does not cut the money from his fees.

On the other hand, Vipul Shah said that above all, the most pleasant thing is that Akshay wore the watch and attended the event. He said that it was a very nice gesture on the actor's part. Coming to the huge price of the watch, Shah said that it was just a gift from a friend to the other on his birthday so price is not important here.

Well, Vipul has rightly said that. We don't count the price of the gifts especially when it comes from a close friend! Hope this friendship lasts long and they keep offering many hit films together!
